Random Date & Time Picker

Choose a start and end, then let the calculator pick a random date or a random date & time inside that interval. Useful for assigning presentation days, meeting times, or practice examples.

Use Random date to pick whole days (for example, presentation dates). Use Random date & time to pick any moment between two date-times.

The chosen date will always be between the start and end (inclusive).

This text is just shown next to the result, to remind you what the random date/time is for.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between random date and random date and time?

Random date selects a whole calendar day between your start and end dates. Random date and time selects a specific moment between two date-times, so the result includes both a date and a time.

Are the start and end dates included when picking a random date?

Yes. In Random date mode, the chosen date is between the start and end dates, inclusive.

Why does the calculator require the start to be before the end?

A valid interval must have a start that is not after the end so there is at least one possible date or moment to choose. If the interval is reversed, the tool cannot generate a meaningful random pick.

How is fairness handled in a random date or random date-time pick?

The calculator selects uniformly within the interval it builds from your inputs. That means each possible date (in date mode) or each possible moment in the interval (in date-time mode) is treated as equally likely.
